This piece was the second in a series of oil paintings where I composed a kind of intentional pentimenti, and combined that with layers of diaphanous fabric that enveloped the figure. Part of my goal with these paintings is to explore what can be revealed by hiding something else. In this painting what I sought to hide was our normal experiencing of the figure by cloaking her in a whirlwind of movement and cloth. It's in this rerouting of our everyday understanding that I hope to un-conceal a new sensation of being in the viewer.
