Gesture of a Seated Woman: Folding and Unfolding
This piece is part of the Folded Females series, where I explore gestures of folding and unfolding, drawing inspiration from sculptural, classical forms of antiquity. Created with acrylic and charcoal on paper, it is ready for framing. The folding process represents both emotional and physical movement, symbolizing life's journey, yet contained within the form. In this work, the act of creation is as important as the final piece itself.
The paper relief has been sprayed with archival varnish for protection, and the folds are reinforced with matte medium to ensure strength and durability. This figurative relief can be beautifully displayed in a shadow box frame.
