Erik Hougen is an artist, educator, printmaker, and, together with Brad Ewing, owner of Marginal Editions, an independent Print Publisher.
Hougen has exhibited at Planthouse, The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, Bronx Museum, IPCNY, The National Arts Club, and Kunsthalle Galapagos. He is currently the Artist in Resident at Kunsthalle Galapagos, and was a participating resident at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop and Brooklyn Art Space, and recipient of the Artist in the Marketplace program.
Currently he serves as Master Printer at the Lower East Side Printshop in New York City where he brings a wide range of technical expertise to his collaborations with artists. In the past, he has worked as a Studio Assistant to Takashi Murakami and printmaker at Pace Prints. As an educator he teaches Intaglio classes at Lower East Side Printshop, DIY Silkscreen at Brooklyn Art Space, and is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute.
