Moirai Triptych - Third Fate, 2019
Painting
36" H x 84" W
SOLD
Third panel in a 21 ft. long triptych commissioned by the California Medical Association. This series of pieces take their conceptual inspiration from the Greek myth of the 3 Fates, or the Moirai, symbolized as three sisters who weave the thread of life. The third fate represents end of life where the threads are cut from the tapestry of time. Here polychromatic threads that flow from the previous panel. The text written specifically for the piece plays on metaphors of weaving in a narrative that explores questions of free will vs predetermination.
