ABOUT THE ARTIST
Fanny Allié was born in 1981 in Montpellier, France. She graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles in 2005 and moved to New York shortly after. She was a selected artist for the Artist in the Marketplace (AIM) program at the Bronx Museum of the Arts in 2006-2007, and solo exhibitions of her work have been organized by the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, Roger Smith Arts Space, Eye Level BQE and St. Eustache Church, in Paris. Freight + Volume Gallery, BRIC Rotunda Gallery, FIGMENT, Dekalb Gallery/Pratt Institute, the Noyes Museum, The Bronx Museum, Snug Harbor among others, have featured her work in group exhibitions. Her work has appeared in the New York Times (Spare Time section), NY Magazine, Hyperallergic, Le Monde Diplomatique, DNA Info, Marie Claire Italy and Arts in Bushwick. Her public and participatory sculpture "Serendipity" was on view in Tompkins Square Park in the East Village for 10 months in 2013-2014, this project earned her an Emergency Grant from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts.
