Harvest Season is a painting that represents rest. As I painted Harvest Season, the spontaneous process of pouring and smearing my materials across a blank surface offered me a physical reminder to practice releasing control and trusting God with my life. When I begin any new piece of art, as with this one, I never know what the result will be, but the more I trust and listen to the work – removing my motives to dictate the outcome – the better the artwork usually turns out. It’s a surprising and sweet process that moves me to delight in the moment at hand.
