Redeemed evolved out of a painting that was almost discarded from my studio. The work in itself is a story of redemption. For months, there sat a painting in my studio that just wasn’t clicking. I set it aside for a while with the plan to completely paint over it until one day, I came back to the work with fresh eyes. The painting wasn’t a loss; it was just incomplete. I brought the canvas out from storage and lovingly began introducing new colors and marks. The work finally reached a stopping point, and its story of new life and completion brought me so much joy. Redeemed reminds me of a line I found written in the front of my great-grandmother’s journal from 1990. “God’s delay is not God’s denial.” – Helen Line Just because an idea may take time doesn’t mean I should give up on it.
