Valeri Larko

I painted this study in the South Bronx in the Spring of 2019. This is the study for a larger version of this painting. For most of my larger paintings, I do a color study first to help me decide on the composition and what size canvas to stretch. The studies are left unfinished because I want to get outdoors and paint the large version while the weather is nice. In the winter I add more details to the study using the large version of the painting as reference. This is why I call my studies "finished studies". This painting was part of my "Sign of the Times" billboard series.
