I painted this on location in the summer of 2018 in Mt Vernon, NY. This was an abandoned warehouse for medical supplies, but it was closed for awhile and locals use to break into it after it was abandoned. Unfortunately some folks started fires inside the building, hence the sign saying "We're gonna catch you!". When I first saw this scene there was a picnic table in the middle of the lot, but it was moved. Luckily I had a photo of it and was able to add it to the scene. It adds a human presence, even though nobody was around when I painted this, however I could imagine the workers having a lunch break outside when the place was in business.
