The Blue Review Art Prize
Nov 18, 2021 to Dec 31, 2021
Sugarlift at High Line Nine, 508 W 28th St, New York

About the exhibition
The Blue Review Art Prize was a charitable art competition that Sugarlift ran with the Blue Review, an online publication and Instagram account devoted to bringing art back to art criticism, and art criticism back to art, by amplifying artists' voices. The inaugural 2021 edition supported Feeding America. Artists entered by posting their work on Instagram and tagging the two organizers, with an optional donation to the fight against hunger.
Some 3,000 submissions arrived from around the world, and the prize raised funds for Feeding America's work to end hunger in the United States. Ten winners received cash prizes, with title sponsorship from BoldBrush, and showed their work at Sugarlift from November 18 to December 31, 2021, opening with a reception on November 18. Another 150 artists received honorable mentions and were featured in an online exhibition and a catalogue.
The winning works ranged from Kylee Snow's graphite drawing Witness to Esteban Ocampo-Giraldo's Retrato Familiar, a family portrait more than six feet tall.
