Anna Mogilevsky's work emphasizes visual relationships between pattern and figure, using texture and experimental materials such as fabrics, string embroidery and various types of paint. As part of her process, Mogilevsky experiments with a variety of media to create a rich viewing experience. Her work draws inspiration from spiritual and contemplative traditions with influences from Russian Iconography, Eastern art, and philosophy, as well as textiles and fiber art. Philosophically, Mogilevsky is interested in how insight is expressed in outer manifestations, and how self-knowledge can transform space.
