Description
Description
My ongoing curiosity is to understand the wonderful insights and truth that can be found by exposing the shadows of my past and present. My youngest daughter Bec has become my muse on this journey, a symbol of myself, assisting me to unearth, express and process emotional parts of myself through my painting. At a time when Bec was leaving behind her teenage years my own unresolved adolescent emotions and experiences fought for my attention. These recollections prompted my current series ‘Reminisce’ In an attempt to recapture impressions of my own emotional landscape at a similar age I have styled the portraits reminiscent of the 1970’s -80’s era. This particular piece speaks to that beautiful sense of childhood fun and innocence and had me questioning was it the external influences of trauma and deprivation or my own internal dialogue and filters that suppressed this part of my identity?
