Night at the Banks is a self portrait with my fiancé, Alex. It depicts the dust covered window of an old department store in downtown Cincinnati that was in the midst of a rennovation. Passersby had left their marks in the dust, which developed a unique display of layered space and texture. I enjoyed the way that this scene both shallow and deep as it showed the impressionistic cityscape behind us. I cut the wood panel to fit shapes of the trompe-l'oeil window frame that further explore this flat illusion of depth.
