Lydia Martin

This oil painting, "El Musico: The Banjo" is included in my Lotería painting series and is inspired by the image pictured on the Mexican Lotería game card, 'El Musico.' The sitters are two of my former art students who posed as musicians performing within my home's granite basement. I enjoy painting people. Yet, I also enjoy painting textured surfaces such these granite stone walls.
