Sugarlift After Dark
Volume 005
Jul 31, 2015 to Aug 31, 2015
Sugarlift, 200 Morgan Ave, Bushwick, Brooklyn

About the exhibition
Sugarlift After Dark, the gallery's fifth collection, brought together six artists pushing digital media in new directions, from painting to immersive and interactive projection: Lizzie Gill, Daniel Sierra, Karan Singh, Kemi Mai, Justin Maller and Ellery Mann. The idea behind it was that digital artwork surrounds us, in commercial work and almost every form of entertainment, yet we rarely see the artists behind it, or how they use the medium in their own personal work.
The new work was released as limited-edition digital pigment prints, shown in the gallery at 200 Morgan Avenue and offered online at sugarlift.com. It ranged from Justin Maller's Constructed series, faceted forms set on fields of saturated color, and Karan Singh's rippling line prints to portraits by Kemi Mai, Lizzie Gill's Poised & Ready and Summer Solstice prints and Ellery Mann's surreal space collages, among them Dive In.
The show opened on Friday, July 31, 2015, with a gallery opening followed by a rooftop party, with beer from Braven Brewing Company and DJs who kept the music going until midnight. It stayed on view through August 31.
